Licensing

Asprova WS must be licensed before its products can be used. The license determines which products are enabled (My Schedule, Auto MPS, and so on), how much you can use them, and for how long.

Ways to authenticate a license

Asprova WS supports two licensing methods:

  • Online license — authenticate with an Asprova ID over the internet. The server contacts Asprova's licensing service to confirm the license.
  • e-Protector — a protection key (HASP) installed on the server, optionally accompanied by a license file. It works without an internet connection.

A given server uses one of these methods.

License types

Regardless of the method, a license is one of:

  • Full — a normal production license.
  • Demo — a time-limited evaluation license.
  • Backup — a temporary license used while a primary key is unavailable.

What a license grants

At the server level, a license controls:

  • The products that are enabled.
  • The validity period during which the license can be used.
  • The number of concurrent users who may be signed in at the same time.
  • The number of registered users that may exist on the server.

Some limits are specific to a product. In particular, My Schedule projects have plans with their own per-plan project limits — see My Schedule plans.

When a license is missing, expired, or exceeded

  • If the server is not licensed, or the license has expired or been revoked, the licensed features are blocked until a valid license is authenticated.
  • If the projects on the server no longer fit within the license's limits — for example after a downgrade or expiry — the server enters maintenance mode until it is brought back into compliance.
